 This is it. Nothing else anywhere else. There is nowhere else but here right now. This is the cause of all the suffering, wishing things were different than they are. Believing they can be. We don't have anything else but what we have right now. When we turn away from this moment, when we deny the reality of this moment, we turn away from reason. We choose to live in a fantasy and lose our sense of what is real. All of the problems of the world come from this. Us avoiding what is real because it is unpleasant and undesirable, because we feel we cannot face what is happening. It is simply human nature and although it is our individual burden to bear how we do this, it is not solely our responsibility. It is a mechanism of the universe which the entirety of the universe generates. Our turning away is apart of how things are. Suffering is apart of how things really are. As human beings we may turn away from what we are afraid of. We may also consciously turn towards our fears with the intention of facing and realizing what is real. The fate of the world rests on the degree to which we turn away or turn towards what is happening right now. The greater the degree we turn towards what is real, the greater the degree we mature in our capacity to respond effectively to what is happening. The more we realize we are not alone, but are a part of an interdependent system that includes every thing in the whole universe. Each human being is connected to every other human being, and to every living thing on this planet. What each of us does affects the whole system. We depend on it, it depends on us. I believe this universe is alive and our life is one with it. I believe if we generate fear and hate we will have fear and hate set upon us. If we wish to be free we must discover a way to live that is not bound by fear. If we wish to see clearly, we must do so. I do not blame anyone for what is happening in our world right now, but each of us is responsible for how what we do affects what is happening. What each of us does shapes the world we live in. This is a fact. If we hide from the world, the world will eventually eat us alive. If we face the world we can hope to stand up in it. To have dignity and respect. If we do not stand up, we will be swallowed by ignorance and uncaring violence. The light is here, the truth is here. It is our choice how we face this.
