I do not believe that there is a lasting eternal individual essence. Who we believe we are as individuals I believe ultimately isn't real and does not exist. Truth, or our true nature is transcendent of our individual identity. It is beyond individual being. The essence of everything in what we call reality, including our individual being, is beyond description or definition. It transcends the structure and the mode of perception of form. This truth is not an explicit denial of anything, nor a promotion of anything. A consequence of perceiving it directly is the insight that the Universe that we believe in full of a multitude of things, is not real, and is really truly none other than this truth which we perceive. The quality that make all of the things in the universe, unique and themselves, is in fact no where to be found, not real. This makes all of these things not themselves. This perception dissolves into the Emptiness that is this truth. What this means to be now, is that without a doubt, there is no way to salvation. The Universe is comprised of a single mysterious body, the inexplicable, unknowable Transcendent Father that is equally known as Emptiness. While the search for God serves a purpose, it is ultimately fruitless, because the Father is all that is. The search and the disclosure of Him is ultimately an illusion. There is no distance between the Alpha and the Omega. Emptiness simply abides. Everything that is done, is emptiness, no action is inside or outside of it. No action has any different effect on it. So ultimately, it does not matter what we do or do not do. I am not saying that life is meaningless, nor that good things are not worth attaining. From an ultimate perspective, it doesn't matter what happens. So we don't need to worry. I don't think there is anywhere we can really get to. There is no self, and there is no ego. Another way you can say this is that the true nature or essence of self is Self or Spirit. Or that self is truly no-self. I do think though that the perception of self is a confusion born of ignorance which fades away with fuller awareness of truth. What's here is Spirit. A Spirit that defeats the ignorance which generates the unreal perception of a world full of things each with their own unique reality. This is an illusion. This world does not exist. According to this, there is no world. There is simply emptiness. There is nothing that we must do to attain this, because we along with the world are unreal. Any plan of action we may take has no effect whatsoever on realizing emptiness. In fact the best route to establishing emptiness in our lives, is by abandoning the search once we realize it leads nowhere. There is no journey, there is no enlightenment. The act of abandoning the search withdraws our attention on the illusory world, and so it naturally fades from awareness. As long as we remain fixated on fulfilling the journey, we will remain distant from our goal, which is already exactly where we are. Or aren't. Abandoning the search is not something we can truly do because we truly do not exist. The dharma naturally unfolds itself through space and time and eventually insight will lead to the occurrence of this phenomena. On a personal level, we can continue to seek truth as best as we may doing what we may to give rise to the opportunity for insight to deepen. In the core of our perception, I believe it is most wise to cultivate the insight of the non-reality of all things, including the search and the way, and at this point to learn to let go of attachment to the way and to the full liberation. This gives room to emptiness to stand as the single real entity in the Universe. I believe giving up the way may be the final step to facing the cutting reality of Emptiness and living a life where it is the established authority. The dharma will continue to blossom without us, and we will know peace without the ceaseless irritations of the self.
